Ruth Milkman, in this presentation for the Stone Center’s 2020 “Inequality by the Numbers” virtual workshop, offers an overview of inequality as it relates to the U.S. labor movement. She covers the history of unionization, focuses on the causes and consequences of union decline, and closes with an assessment of future prospects for labor organizing. Milkman is a faculty member of the Graduate Center and the School of Labor and Urban Studies, CUNY.
