Miles Corak, in this presentation for the Stone Center’s 2020 “Inequality by the Numbers” virtual workshop, describes how the advantages and disadvantages of family background are passed down from one generation to the next, perpetuating inequality. He also discusses how mobility is affected by economic and social policy, as well as the likely effects of the coronavirus pandemic on mobility. Corak is a senior scholar at the Stone Center on Socio-Economic Inequality and a faculty member at the Graduate Center, CUNY.
