Fabian Pfeffer is a professor of sociology at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University (LMU) Munich and holds the Chair for Social Inequality and Social Structures. He is also the founding director of the Munich International Stone Center for Inequality Research (ISI). In addition, he currently serves as the Co-Director of the Wealth and Mobility Study (WAM) at the University of Michigan’s Stone Center for Inequality Dynamics, where he served as the founding director from 2020 to 2023. His work on social inequality, wealth, education, and quantitative methods appears in the American Sociological Review, the Annual Review of Sociology, Social Forces, the European Sociological Review, and other outlets. He is the recipient of the Early Career Award from two sections of the American Sociological Association, the section on Inequality, Poverty and Mobility and the section on Sociology of Education. His research has been supported by the National Science Foundation, the National Institutes of Health, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Russell Sage Foundation, the Volkswagen Foundation, and others.
