Professor Leslie McCall discussed possibilities for solidarity in the U.S. on a recent appearance on the Sociology for Dark Times podcast. The podcast, launched by Sanjiv Gupta of the University of Massachusetts Amherst, features interviews with sociologists who explain how their work has changed in recent years and explore ways of intervening in the current moment.
McCall discussed topics including whether sociologists should ask different kinds of questions in their research, particularly ones that focus on opportunities for solidarity among the majority of people in the U.S. She also called for changes in how sociologists frame research about political polarization.
