(Version: February 2019)

This dataset, constructed by Stone Center Senior Scholar Branko Milanovic, represents a compilation and adaptation of income or consumption Gini coefficients (calculated across households or household per capita; on gross or net basis) retrieved from nine sources. The dataset was intentionally created in a flexible format so that every user can decide to use just one or two of these sources or to combine several sources in a particular way. The database covers the period 1948-2017 and includes 5,121 Ginis from 201 countries or territories, all coming from nationally representative household surveys.
