In his much-discussed book, Dream Hoarders, Richard V. Reeves asserts that the most important gap in America is between the top 20% (not just the 1%) and everyone else. Is the upper middle class hoarding the American dream? Scholars from the Graduate Center’s Stone Center — Janet Gornick, Paul Krugman, and Leslie McCall — take a critical look at Reeves’s conclusions in conversation with the author, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution. They are joined by Miles Corak from the University of Ottawa. (Corak became a professor at The Graduate Center and a senior scholar at the Stone Center in 2018.)
