Branko Milanovic, in this presentation for the Stone Center’s 2020 “Inequality by the Numbers” virtual workshop, presents an overview of trends in global income inequality, both between and within countries, from the early 1800s to the present. He focuses in particular on three sub-periods of this span and describes the political dynamics associated with each one. Milanovic is a senior scholar at the Stone Center on Socio-Economic Inequality and a faculty member of the Graduate Center, CUNY.
