The Great Escape by Nobel laureate Angus Deaton, called an “illuminating and inspiring history” by The New York Times, traces the dramatic increase in human prosperity over the past 250 years, as well as the widening gap between the poor and sick, and the rich and well. Deaton, a professor of economics at Princeton University and one of the world’s leading experts on economic development, served as the keynote speaker for this event, discussing issues raised in his book.
