Enobong (Anna) Branch is a professor of sociology and senior vice president for equity at Rutgers University. Her research on labor and work explores the historical roots and contemporary underpinnings of racial and gender inequality. She is the coauthor of Work in Black and White: Striving for the American Dream (2022), the coauthor of Black in America: The Paradox of the Color Line (2020), the editor of Pathways, Potholes, and the Persistence of Women in Science: Reconsidering the Pipeline (2016), and the author of Opportunity Denied: Limiting Black Women to Devalued Work (2011), as well as the author of several articles published in the International Journal of Gender, Science, and Technology; The Sociological Quarterly; Sociological Perspectives; Social Science History; Journal of Black Studies; Race, Gender, & Class; and more. She is the founding coeditor of the book series Inequality at Work: Perspectives on Race, Gender, Class, and Labor for Rutgers University Press. Branch’s research has been supported by the National Science Foundation and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. She received her Ph.D. in sociology from the University at Albany, SUNY and her B.S. in biology from Howard University.
