Junior Scholar

Juan Diaz is a Ph.D. student in Social Welfare at the Graduate Center who focuses on the immigrant experience of the Ecuadorian community in New York City. His research examines the socio-economic and structural barriers faced by first-generation Latinx immigrants, and the policy alternatives that could foster social capital and increase upward mobility among first-generation children and youth. Diaz is also a Guaranteed Income Research Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania, where he collaborates on data collection for The Bridge Project. He holds a B.A. in Sociology and an M.S. in Urban Policy and Leadership from Hunter College.
