Junior Scholar

Qiyao Pan is a Ph.D. student in Sociology at the Graduate Center. Her research primarily investigates the determinants of variation in neighborhood services, with an emphasis on spatial inequality and ethno-racial disparities in New York City. Her dissertation will focus on how neighborhood reputation develops and the racialized discourse in the representation of business and municipal services. She is also a CUNY Institute for Demographic Research Fellow and a teaching assistant for the QMSS program at the Graduate Center. Previously she was a Latino Data Project Fellow and a research assistant for the GC Wealth Project. She received her B.A. from Beijing Foreign Studies University in China and her M.A. in European and Mediterranean Studies from New York University.
